What is generic Viagra?
Every medicine has a brand name and its generic. Generic means the actual chemical concentrate which is the main ingredient for that medicine. Since brand names obtain a patent therefore the other drug companies make the same drug as in its generic form, so generic Viagra is just the same as Pfizer's Viagra. The only difference which is an added advantage to you is that generic Viagra is far cheaper than the branded Viagra but the benefits are just identical as the branded Viagra. The active ingredient in Viagra which is used as generic is sildenafil citrate.


How effective is Viagra?
Over 21 studies have been done to evaluate the efficacy of Viagra. Evaluation of drug activity was most often done using a self-assessment questionnaire. During a 6-month open labeled study, Viagra was found to improve sexual function in 88% of those treated. This included frequency, firmness, and maintenance of an erection; frequency of orgasm; frequency and level of desire; frequency, satisfaction and enjoyment of sexual intercourse; and overall relationship satisfaction.

How does Viagra work?
When a man is sexually aroused, an increase in blood flow to certain internal areas of the penis results in an erection. If the nerves or blood vessels in your genitals aren't working properly, you may not be able to get an erection. Viagra works by enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, a chemical normally released into the penis during sexual arousal, allowing you to get and keep an erection.

Will Viagra work for me?
Viagra works for about 80% of men who try Viagra. Consuming large quantities of alcohol and eating a meal that is high in fat will cause Viagra to be less effective.

When should I take Viagra?
Viagra should be taken 30 mnts to 1 hr before the sexual intercourse, giving you ample time to become more acquainted with your partner.


How long does Viagra last?
If Viagra is taken as prescribed then Viagra will remain in your system for 4 to 8 hrs


Will Viagra stop working when I ejaculate?
As long as you are sexually stimulated within the 4 to 8 hr time frame, Viagra will still be working for you.

How can generic sildenafil citrate be so much less expensive?
Just like any generic pharmaceutical, generic Viagra is less expensive as compared to a brand name equivalent. The reason you can buy generic Viagra for less is that consumers don't pay for branding, marketing, advertising or a costly sales force or overhead. The suppliers of generic Viagra pass on these cost savings directly to the consumers.

Is Viagra for me?
Viagra is for you if you have difficulty in getting penile erections or maintaining it, a condition medically known as erectile dysfunction. About 30 million men in the US and about half of the men between the age group of 40-70 years suffer with erectile dysfunction from some degree or the other of ED or erectile dysfunction.


Who should not take Viagra?
People who take nitrate drugs like nitroglycerin which are generally used for chest pains in cardiovascular disease should not use Viagra. The combination of nitroglycerin with Viagra can prove to be fatal for a man as the combination of Viagra and nitroglycerin can drop his blood pressure to dangerously low levels which can be life threatening.

Can I use Viagra with other medications?
Yes, it is generally safe to use Viagra while on other medications; however some medicines may potentiate the effects of Viagra. Individuals should always consult with their healthcare provider prior to taking any medication. Viagra does have one absolute contraindication; individuals who are taking medication-containing nitrate (even intermittently) should not take Viagra.

Is there a potential for Viagra to be used in the treatment of sexual dysfunction for women?
There are currently several medical research centers that are studying whether Viagra is a viable oral therapy for a woman with sexual dysfunction. The problem is, secondary to anatomy, since we know less concerning female sexual dysfunction than male sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction. Historically, research has focused on male erectile dysfunction. Until we have a better understanding of the physiological processes causing sexual dysfunction in women our ability to treat the condition is limited. Although some physicians are prescribing Viagra to their female patients, it is important to note, the FDA has not approved the medication for the treatment of female sexual dysfunction in women.
