Viagra Eases Circulatory Disorder symptoms

We all know that the credit of being the first oral pill for treating erectile dysfunction goes undoubtedly to Viagra. Viagra has kindled the light of hope in the hearts of several such men who prior to this were leading a dejected life due to unsatisfactory sexual lives. Viagra works by increasing the blood flow in the area where it is required the most, the male sex organ, and thus makes the flaccid organ achieve erection.

Apart from the primary benefit on the sex life, researches have shown some interesting results as well of taking Viagra. Apart from the benefits that we all know about Viagra has been found good for people with high blood pressure. But it seems that the drug has also other positive effects.

The Sarland University Researchers have discovered that Viagra may ease symptoms of a circulatory disorder called Raynaud's Phenomenon. Raynaud's Phenomenon is a typical symptom of a kind of circulatory disorder which affects 3 million to 5 million people worldwide. It occurs when cold temperatures or stress cause small blood vessels in the skin to constrict, resulting in numbness, tingling and pain in toes and fingers. In severe cases, there's a risk of ulcerations.

The study compared outcomes in 16 patients, mostly women who were suffering from severe Raynaud's Phenomenon. These women did not respond to standard treatment with drugs used to help dilate blood vessels. The patients received either Viagra or a placebo for four weeks, and were then switched to the opposite treatment for another four weeks.

The conclusion was that Viagra had reduced the frequency and duration of Raynaud's attacks, improved capillary blood flow and helped in healing chronic toe and finger ulcerations .
