Viagra Encourages Reckless Sex, Says AIDS Group
Viagra, the world famous anti erectile dysfunction pill is said to be one of the first pills to be introduced in the market for men to help them enjoy their sex lives in a better way.
The Viagra manufacturer, Pfizer, had put up a big, full page advertisement of Viagra on the New Year's Eve and it has met with a stiff resistance by the AIDS group. AIDS activists wanted the maker of Viagra to pull down its advertisement of the drug put up on the occasion of the New Year's Eve, saying that Viagra deliberately encourages reckless sex on a night known for booze-induced flings of one-night stand.
The print ad for the impotence pill — which shows a middle-aged man sporting a wedding ring and a devilish grin — asks, "What are you doing New Year's Eve?"
AIDS Healthcare Foundation, an advocacy group that also runs treatment clinics, argues that the ad promotes Viagra as a party pill and encourages unsafe sex. This can be an unintentional way to spread AIDS. The AIDS group says that with this advertisement of Viagra it looks more of a recreational pill to be enjoyed during the New Year holidays and less as a pill for treating a disease.
