Viagra fuels ED research
Ever since Viagra, the ED drug of Pfizer hit the market, there has been a sea change in the research on erectile dysfunction. Taken by its wave of popularity, more medical researchers have started going in depth to uncover all the precise details of this disability.
A recent study in the United States found that one in every five men suffers from this dysfunction. Almost 70% of the men above 75 years of age are reported to have symptoms of erectile dysfunction. And men of Hispanic descent have double the risk of having this problem. Nearly 50 % of the scientific facts about ED came to be established only after Viagra was introduced in the market. In fact patients started consulting the doctors only after seeing the Viagra commercials.
The study used the data collected by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to come up with this surprising conclusion. The data has medical histories related to erectile dysfunction, taken through household interviews of 3566 men, 20 years and older. The study also found that men between the age group of 60 and 69 have higher chances of having ED as compared to men below 29 years.
The research team says that there are certain limitations to the study, as in getting real life accounts of the patients. But, the team is all praise for Viagra, as Viagra has opened up many people to the realities of Erectile Dysfunction.
