Fake Viagra Confiscated from a Chinese Man
A man has been arrested in Zhejiang Province for making millions from fake Viagra and fake Cialis, the two most popular drugs used for treating erectile dysfunction in men.
About 280,000 tablets of fake Viagra and 1.41 million of fake Cialis — with a market value of 238 million Yuan (US$29 million) — were seized according to the Public Security Bureau of Shaoxing City.
This man named as Wang Weiping, a company representative at the Kangdeli Health Care Co Ltd in Xinchang County of Shaoxing City, was arrested in November in Hangzhou , capital of Zhejiang Province , on suspicion of making and selling fake drugs, police said. His workshop was searched and equipment was seized later in Guannan County , Lianyungang City of neighboring Jiangsu Province .
Wang had been arrested in 2003 on the same charges. The case may help investigators root out the network of manufacturing and selling fake drugs.
Viagra is made by New York-based Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Cialis by Indianapolis-based Lilly Icos Llc
