Men are Shattered When Viagra Fails
Viagra had been much publicized as one of the first anti-impotent pill ready to change the sexual lives of men for ever. There was much hype even prior to its launch. This happened primarily because the issue of male sexual health, in particular male impotence was not an openly discussed matter. In fact often men hardly paid any attention towards it or towards the reasons underlying it. But ever since Viagra had been launched in the world of medicines men have now started giving adequate importance to their problem of male impotence or erectile dysfunction as it is medically known to us these days.
Viagra made men to build high hopes and as a result of this people started looking at Viagra as a panacea for their erectile dysfunction problem. Viagra had raised so much high hopes in the minds of men that if Viagra failed to live up to their expectations in the first attempt itself, men were greatly disappointed and shattered. A new study suggests that those men whom Viagra failed in the first try itself become extremely disappointed.
These days men are greatly enlightened on their condition of erectile dysfunction, thanks to the media around us. But the media frenzy has quite hiked the expectations of these men suffering from erectile dysfunction. The study proved that the self-esteem of men got a big boost if Viagra was able to live up to the expectations of these men. But if the drug did not perform as was expected then there was a sharp decline in the self-esteem of such men. For many men, the general measure for a man's masculinity is the satisfactory ability to perform sexually and the ability to satisfy their partner. Such men when they rely on Viagra for spicing up their sex lives, and fail, they get disheartened to such an extent that they may even land themselves in mental depression. The initial reaction is always that men feel as if they have been deprived of their virility.
Most of the men had first heard about Viagra on television or in newspaper articles and had high expectations of the drug before taking it. Researchers found many men expected to gain an instant erection easily and immediately before sexual intercourse. Many even misunderstood Viagra as an aphrodisiac, which in reality is quite untrue. Viagra just helps you to have that much needed erection for sexual penetration and is not a substitute for sexual stimulation. Men who were successfully treated with Viagra reported to have noticed a boost to their self confidence. But there were some such men too who did not experience the desired success with the use of Viagra in their first try itself. Such men were hugely disappointed and many of them gave the unnecessary media hype attached to this drug as one of the reasons responsible for their undue expectation with this drug and hence the disappointment. Many also thought the treatment was unsuccessful because it took the spontaneity out of their sex or because their sex life now depended on medical treatment. Erectile dysfunction has a major psychosocial impact on men, and health professionals might well also anticipate an impact on personal relationships. Researchers say that the extra hype regarding the drug was responsible for the disappointment of the men regarding the failure of the drug in their case and since erectile dysfunction has a psychological impact on the minds of the affected men as well therefore the failure of the drug in some cases lowered their morale, which means it was more of a harm than a benefit for them.
