5 Common Sexual Myths of Men
With the introduction of the first male-impotence drug Viagra, men were seen rushing to their physicians to get their sexual impotence or erectile dysfunction treated as soon as possible. But there is not much focus on the overall male sexual health. In fact there are quite a many sexual myths that surround the sexual well being of a man. Let us see what are those myths and the reality behind them:

Sexual health is a woman's issue |
This is one of the biggest myths. According to statistics men start having sex earlier than their female counterparts. The average of having sex for males is as early as 16.9 years where as for females it is 17.4 years. This is also true that on an average, men have higher number of sex partners as compared to females. But in spite of this men do not have any medical equivalent to a gynecologist, like females, who visit a gynecologist for any internal or external sexual problem. According to a 2002 report, even less than half of the teenage boys ever go to seek medical advice for their sexual health. Males also have less access to the information regarding sexually transmitted diseases and contraceptives. Although for some sexually transmitted diseases women get paid for the treatment by the Medicare programs but for the same disease the men are not, though the female partner may get infected again. Even the health care professionals also do not bother to ask anything about the sexual health of a male.

Only older men can have erectile dysfunction. |
It is a general perception that older men tend to get more and more problems of erectile dysfunction but it has been found that erectile dysfunction actually occurs to even younger men, men who are in their forties. With a younger guy the problem becomes more complex because the person starts worrying about his performance and is gripped with performance anxiety. The success of the anti-impotence drugs like Viagra has made the people to go and talk openly with their physicians. The younger men can easily get cured if the cause of their erectile dysfunction is treated.

Lifestyle does not have any impact on the sex life |
Men think that it does not make any difference if they drink, smoke or are addicted to any drug, but the fact is that a poor lifestyle and habit has quite an impact on the sex life of a person. It has already been proved in researches that a person who smokes and drinks has twice the chances of suffering from erectile dysfunction. A person who suffers from erectile dysfunction has a poor blood flow to his male organ. Now this poor blood flow can result from the narrowing of the arteries owing to smoking, drinking and other such unhealthy habits. Hence if a person leads a healthy lifestyle, he reduces his chances of becoming impotent naturally.

Low sex drive can't be helped |
Just as women have low sexual drive similarly men can also suffer from low libido as they age. As men age the male hormone testosterone gets reduced which is basically responsible for the erectile functions of men and also responsible for their low libido. Such men can be treated with testosterone enhancement and can regain their lost sex drive again.

Erectile dysfunction is the most common sexual problem of men |
It is generally assumed that men suffer from erectile problem the most but statistics say that it's premature ejaculation which is a problem for most men. This problem generally strikes when the males are there in their late teens or early adulthood. This problem is primarily because of anxiety. The trick is to identify the moment of 'the point of no return'. Once that particular moment is identified the secret is to delay or prolong that moment. Another advice that the physicians give to these kinds of patients is never to have sex when you are not mentally at peace. Do not ever think about your problems when having sex because that can deteriorate your sexual performance and you may be also suffering from early ejaculation.
